What's Baby Phat Without St. Louis Native Kimora Lee Simmons?

Oh, the fabulosity!

St. Louis native Kimora Lee Simmons is a model, mogul and fashion designer. She's perhaps best known as the face of and creative force behind Baby Phat, the clubwear line she headed that was a subsidiary of her ex-husband Russell Simmons' Phat Farm's puffy-coats-and-logo-shirts line.

But she's parted ways with Baby Phat, and the circumstances of the split are unclear.

Both lines were sold to Kellwood, a design and marketing firm based in suburban St. Louis, in 2004. Simmons stayed on and was promoted by Kellwood to Creative Director of Phat Fashions, the umbrella that runs both Baby Phat and Phat Farm, in 2007.

Now, though, she's "no longer with Baby Phat," as countless posts on her Twitter feed reveal. "No I did not quit but it is over," she tweeted.

The New York Post's Page Six says a mole told them she was going over budget on photo shoots and airbrushing, but their "source" remains anonymous. However, Jezebel said it had the goods on some obvious cut-and-pasting of Simmons' head onto another model's body.

Debra D. Bass over at the Post-Dispatch reports that Simmons said "Baby Phat was like one of my was all a surprise to me," outside the Charlotte Ronson show Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Erin Haggerty, press contact for Kellwood, tells the Daily RFT that the company is "not commenting on that at this time," but may issue a statement in the future.

If they do, you can bet we'll let you know what it says.
