Speculative fiction website io9 posted a sneak peek at the forthcoming TV show Defiance, a SyFy channel original that's set 35 years in the future. In between now and then an alien species crashes into Earth and inadvertently terraforms the planet, creating a new world. Despite all that, the Arch still stands. You'll note however that we lost the Mississippi, but gained some mountains.

There's good news for football fans, however.

I'm assuming this is the Ed Jones Dome of the future, although I suppose it could be City Hall. That looks top tier as hell.

There's a video that goes deeper into the why's and wherefore's of the show, which also features some of the stars discussing their characters. Fans of the show Battlestar Galactica (the newer one, not the original) may be excited to hear that the guy who did the special effects for BG is doing 'em for Defiance. Other good news? In the future, St. Louis gets a lady mayor.
