Todd Akin may someday hope to make a comeback, but in the meantime, his infamous "legitimate rape" remark is the gift that keeps on giving. That is, the failed Senate candidate from Missouri continues to inspire some legitimate art. First, we had the Akin-themed Law & Order SVU episode. And now, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the Todd Akin pinball game.

The Missouri congressman's campaign-destroying gaffe has inspired a French artist -- like, actually based in France! -- to create a pinball game that illustrates the "female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down" part of Akin's quote last summer.

You can guess where this is going.

In case you forgot, here's that Akin comment in full, which, he apologized for, but still ruined his Senate run:

First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But lets assume that maybe that didn't work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought be in the rapist, not attacking the child.

The French art project comes from artist Marie Busson and is, according to her website, called "La Femme Flipper...En réponse à Tod Akin."

Here's a larger photo of the work of art:

The concept looks pretty simple: A 3-D depiction of the female body shutting the whole thing down in pinball form, because, why not?

So as Akin considers a return to politics someday, he should keep in mind that the people of France have not forgotten!

Here are some more photos from the artist's website:

And in case you're craving more Akin art, here's the teaser from that SVU episode...and video of the original comment.
