A new print magazine is coming out today — just in time for National Coming Out Day.

Out in STL is a glossy LGBTQ quarterly that covers everything from politics to nightlife to the arts, all with an interest in exploring — and celebrating — the area's gay, lesbian and transgender community.

The magazine's first issue hit the streets in September, featuring local Dexter Peebles, aka Cheyenne Devereaux, in a gorgeous cover shot by Susan Bennet. Its website is now live at (Follow it on Twitter @outinSTL or like it on Facebook for daily doses of content.) The 52-page publication will be celebrated at a party next week.

And, OK, we at the Riverfront Times have a special interest in celebrating this launch. Out in STL is being published by Euclid Media, the same company that has published the RFT since 2015. (The company also publishes Out in SA, an LGBTQ magazine in San Antonio.)

Chris Andoe, who served as columnist for the inaugural issue, has taken the reins as the magazine's editor in chief.

  • Chris Andoe.
The author of Delusions of Grandeur, Andoe was a longtime Vital Voice columnist. (That magazine went digital-only earlier this year.) He'll be assisted in Out in STL's winter issue by managing editor Nicholas Phillips and associate editor Melissa Meinzer, both longtime St. Louis-based journalists.

"I'm an Oklahoma native and have lived from San Francisco to New York, but for twenty years St. Louis has captured my imagination, so much so that I wrote a book about it," Andoe tells us. "This is a real city with history and backstory, and is a place where there's so much beneath the surface. Becoming editor in chief of this sensational new magazine was the last thing I expected, and I couldn't be more excited."
