It's not typical to see a corgi riding bareback on a one-eyed pony. But hey — when has Missouri ever been typical?

And so we bring you this week's news from Halfway, Missouri, a tiny town of 173 souls not far from Springfield. Callie Schenker, who lives there, arrived home last Thursday to find the neighbor's corgi riding her pony, Cricket. As Schenker later told the Springfield News-Leader, she took a short video of the comical scene and posted it to Facebook, thinking only friends would see it.

But Schenker was wrong. Corgis? Ponies? A corgi riding a pony bare-backed for the sheer joy of it? The video was tailor-made to go viral — and sure enough, it's gotten 63,000 reactions, more than 89,000 shares and more than five million views so far.

"I can't make this stuff up!!!" Schenker wrote on the Facebook post. "So we pull back in our driveway tonight and this is what we see. This is not our dog! But apparently him and Cricket the one eyed wonder pony are best friends. I'm stealing the dog, new circus act!"

Schenker told the Springfield News-Leader that she's since been flooded with comments, questions and hundreds of friend requests. She has since updated the post with a request that strangers stop sending her friend requests — as well as answers to a few endlessly recurring questions.

"The dog is my neighbors. He randomly shows up. I guess I just caught him riding my people at the perfect time!" Schenker writes.

She adds, "The dog didn't get hurt! No the dog is not abused at his home, he just likes to travel the rural area we live. Cricket is fine, he lost his eye along time ago in an incident that had nothing to do with the dog! I DID not put the dog on the pony! Honestly I was pulling in my drive way from going to Mcdonalds when I seen this happening. I'm lucky I even got the video because my phone was nearly dead. I didn't have any intentions of his video being viral. I just post a funny video I thought my friends would enjoy. I'm glad everyone got a good laugh out of this."

Oh, and in case you're wondering, Schenker tells the News-Leader that her pony is not for sale.

While Schenker says the corgi often visits (sometimes sneaking through her home's doggie door to eat her own dogs' food), this is only the second time she's seen him riding Cricket. The first time was two days prior to the capturing the video, and that time, she just took a photo.

Schenker also tells the News-Leader that she believes the corgi's name is Roper and that he belongs to her neighbors, who are Mennonites. As such, she says they keep to themselves and avoid going online — and have no idea their corgi has gone viral.
