The social media star says guys either want clout or get intimidated before the first date.

Being a social media star comes with brand deals, fan mail, and the kind of name recognition most people only dream about. But there’s also a side that doesn’t make it into the highlight reel, and Britney Bakeer just revealed she nearly walked away from all of it before her career even took off.
“There was a point where I was ready to delete everything,” the content creator told RFT. “I was comparing myself to everyone else on the app and I just felt like maybe this wasn’t for me.”
Bakeer, whose real name is Camila Belén, has since built a massive following across social media — over 5 million followers on her main Instagram alone, with millions more spread across backup accounts and other platforms. But she says none of it would exist if she had listened to that voice in her head telling her to stop.
“I remember sitting on my bed one night thinking, what am I even doing this for?” she said. “Nobody was watching. Nobody was engaging. I felt like I was posting into a void. And the worst part is, I knew I had something to offer.”
What changed, according to Bakeer, was a shift in mindset. She stopped chasing trends and started posting content that felt authentic to who she was, not what she thought the algorithm wanted. “I stopped trying to be what I thought people wanted to see and just started being myself,” she said. “That’s when everything flipped.”
Plenty of creators have spoken about the mental toll of building a following from scratch. But for Bakeer, sharing the story now is about being honest with the fans who only know her as the girl with millions of followers. “People see where I am now and assume it was easy,” she said. “It wasn’t. I think it’s important for everyone to understand that growth takes time, and not everything is meant to happen overnight.”
