A trusted operative notified Gut Check that there are signs at 35 North Gore Avenue in Webster Groves announcing La Cantina, a new restaurant from Amigos Cantina (120 West Jefferson Avenue, Kirkwood; 314-821-0877).

In September, Amigos owner Robert Trevino announced that he would open La Cantina on the eastern half of the Delmar Loop. The new restaurant, he told George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine and Ligaya Figueras of Sauce -- us, too, we hoped, though our message wasn't returned -- would serve rotisserie-grilled and charbroiled meats as well as botanas, small plates of Mexican fare.
Trevino wasn't available when we called Amigos this afternoon, but an employee did confirm that a new restaurant is opening in Webster Groves, and that the Delmar Loop plans are no more.
