And so the long saga of Arcelia's Mexicana Restaurant begins a new chapter: The restaurant, which closed its previous incarnation at 2001 Park Avenue at the end of 2010, reopens today at its new location at 1928 South 12th Street in Soulard.

According to its Facebook page, Arcelia's will open at 11 a.m. today with a limited menu and remain open until the food runs out:
We will have Enchiladas de Crema, Empanadas, Chile Verde, Chile Poblanos, Chimichangas, and almost everything else, and of course Hot! Hot! chips and salsa...
Marta Ramirez, daughter of Arcelia's late founder Arcelia Sanchez, is spearheading this Arcelia's. She told us in June that "the whole family" was involved in the new restaurant, which would feature the same menu as the original.
Arcelia's first opened over twenty years ago at 2501 South Ninth Street in Soulard before moving to Lafayette Square, making this a homecoming of sorts.
Meanwhile, Arcelia's previous home at 2001 Park Avenue is now home to another Mexican restaurant, Laredo on Lafayette Square. There's no connection between that restaurant, which opened in August of this year, and Arcelia's.
