OK, so maybe you shrugged your shoulders at yesterday's news about the FDA's warning on Korean shellfish. Fair enough. Not exactly an everyday purchase around these parts. Bagged salad, on the other hand...
The FDA has announced that River Ranch Fresh Foods of Salinas, California, has expanded its voluntary recall of bagged salads that are potentially contaminated with listeria.
The initial recall applied only to bagged salads distributed in California and Colorado. The expanded recall is nationwide.
River Ranch sells its bagged salads under its own name as well as the brand names Farm Stand, Hy-Vee, Shurfresh and the Farmer's Market.
In addition, River Ranch distributed its bagged salads to foodservice operators under its own name and under the Sysco brand.
The FDA has the complete list of recalled product names and best-buy dates on its website.
According to the FDA, there have been no reported illnesses connected to the recall.
