Food bloggers, rejoice! The New York Times reports that the James Beard Awards will no longer give separate awards for online and print food writing, meaning pieces published online will be eligible for the Beard Foundation's biggest writing awards - the M.F.K. Fisher Distinguished Writing Award and the Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award. Websites, magazines and newspapers will be eligible for Publication of the Year in 2011.
ConAgra's CEO complains about customer frugality in an interview with CNBC. "The primary issue is truly jobs," [Gary] Rodkin said, "being able to see enough demand ... and getting a higher degree of certainty ... from the consumer so they feel confident to open up their purse strings a little more. " He goes on to say that growth will come from demonstrating the value of their products, marketing, and innovation.
