Hot on the heels of its 30th anniversary celebration, Cafe Natasha's (3200 South Grand Boulevard; 314-771-3411) is throwing its third annual Hummus Bar Block Party tonight, September 10, at 6 p.m., complete with a falafel-eating contest. Will you be the grand champion?

Wyoming Street will be blocked off from Grand Boulevard to Arkansas Street starting at 6 p.m. Guests will enjoy all-you-can-eat hummus, falafel, vegetable stew, a variety of Persian basmati pilafs, fresh sautéed mushrooms and grilled pomegranate eggplant. The unlimited hummus bar will run from 5 to 8 p.m. with happy-hour pricing on cocktails, beer and wine.

The winner of the falafel-eating contest gets the title of Falafel-Eating Champion and a gift certificate for dinner for two at Cafe Natasha's -- something you definitely want, trust us. Last year's record was 22 falafels in five minutes. Absolutli Goosed is also pairing with Cafe Natasha's for the Brokers Gin Cocktail Competition. South Grand bartenders will compete for the title; sample all their drinks for $2.
