No storefront on Main Street St. Charles seems to stay empty for long. Cooper's Legendary American Pub (140 North Main Street, St. Charles; 636-724-5505) opened October 14 in the former Eros Eclectic Greek Taverna space. The owners describe it as an upscale sports bar with the "coldest beer on Main Street."

"I've always wanted to have a sports bar, it jus took me 59 years to do this," co-owner Bill Komlose tells us. He calls the food "elevated," a credit to chef John Nunley, who struck around after Eros closed.

"It's an old brick building -- exposed brick walls -- we upgraded the bar quite a bit, put the draft system in and totally rehabbed the bar," he says. "The walls have sports mememorabilia, a lot of Cards stuff, Blues, [with] Mizzou stuff soon. We're big Blues fans."

Gameday specials include things like $5 domestic draft pitchers and lunch specials like a barbecue beef brisket sandwich or a pork chop and grilled onion sandwich. Cooper's is open Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can find the full menu here, or follow on Twitter @CoopersOnMain.
