Cyrano's Has a Happy Hour -- Now That's What We Call Sweet!
Kristen Klempert

The Joint: Cyrano's 603 East Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves; 314-963-3232

The Hours: Mon.-Fri. 4-7 p.m.

The Deal: $5 martinis, half-off beer and by-the-glass wine.

Those discounts are dandy! But mind your manners -- this is a high-class joint...

The Scene: Cyrano's is all about the ambiance. Dark mahogany tables, desserts for two, roses on the tables -- it's every fifteen-year-old girl's dream date. But its fully loaded bar, blessed with unique beer, wine and cocktail lists, is designed for more, shall we say, sophisticated palates.

Confined to the bar, the hightops fill up quick during Happy Hour, but the servers still manage to give attentive service. And although the prices are remarkable (recognizable wines and posh beers for about three to five bucks), Cyrano's isn't the place to knock back as many drinks as possible. They've got more class than that and expect you too as well.

Why You'll Go Back: The drinkable -- and potent -- desserts. For those who are torn between dessert or alcohol calories, these are Heaven-sent solutions. Thanks to sweet and swillable choices like the Carmello martini, the Tiramisu Tini and the Chocolate Covered Cherry martini, your sweet tooth will bring you back again and again.

The Verdict: When it comes to high-quality beers and wines, there really is no better bang for your buck. It's unfortunate that none of the café's signature dishes or desserts gets the discount treatment, but that's probably in your waistline's best interests.
