Local blog nextSTL reports that a source close to the situation says Church's may be Wash. U's next development project. It's just across the street from the new student residences going up on the block next to Mission Taco Joint.
A Wash. U. spokeswoman said that there are no "formal development plans" for the site. Loop developer Joe Edwards also reportedly tried to acquire the site, with no luck. Whatever happens, we can probably all agree that something needs to be done with the lot -- it's primo real estate in a bustling neighborhood. Why not put it to good use?
