Fans of PW Pizza and Vin de Set can now enjoy yet another concept from restaurateurs Paul and Wendy Hamilton in the same building: 21st Amendment: the Brewer's Bar (2017 Chouteau Avenue; 314-241-6969) opened in early March. Located in the basement of the building marked by signage leading down a couple flights of stairs, 21st Amendment feels a lot like a secret beer lair -- a candle-lit cave filled with booze and food.

Exposed stone walls, leather couches and a lit-up bar backed by taps and fridges full of frosty bottles make up the space with some TVs, paintings and beer-themed signage on the walls, and the menu feels a bit like a brewery bible. Mounted on a clipboard, thick pages list local, domestic and International drafts, bottles and cans -- more than 100 collectively to choose from at any given time. Available information includes ABV, the city of source and the price per pour.
Hungry bar-goers can choose from a list of "Brew Snacks" conjured on the spot including pickled eggs, charcuterie, soft pretzels, Wenneman's beef sticks and a cheddar cheese ball rolled in IPA-poached walnuts. For something more substantial, PW Pizza cooks its full menu of pizzas upstairs and brings it down fresh from the oven on a wooden peel.
21st Amendment even offers something in the way of sweets: Get a beer float made up of your choice of a stout topped with a scoop of housemade chocolate-orange-ancho-chili ice cream.
21st Amendment: the Brewer's Bar's current hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 4 p.m. to midnight. Happy hour runs Monday through Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. featuring $1 off all drafts and half-price "Brew Snacks," with additional daily deals.
