Our favorite sports bar of 2013 opened its second location at the end of July, just steps from the ballpark. The Wheelhouse (1000 Spruce Street; 314-833-3653) has got 10,000 feet of the Cupples 8 building, designed by SPACE Architects.

The menu, developed by Wheelhouse chef Nick Del Gaiso, is almost the same as the original, plus a few items that have yet to be introduced to the Clayton location. The tables and bar are made of reclaimed wood by local artisan Jermaine Todd, a.k.a. Mwanzi Co.
There's an outdoor patio, plus an upstairs area that overlooks the dining room and bar, multiple TVs to catch the game and a DJ booth and dance floor. Wheelhouse is open until 3 a.m., but currently can only sell liquor until 1:30 a.m. A 3 a.m. liquor license requires $150,000 in sales, but the owners see that happening within a week or so.
