Fleur de Lilies Has Closed in Soulard

Fleur de Lilies, the Creole/Asian fusion restaurant in Soulard that drew raves from critics and diners, has closed its doors.

Co-owner Misha K. Sampson confirmed the news to the RFT today, saying the last day was Monday.

Sampson said she and executive chef Ceaira Jackson, known as "Chef Jack," had left the restaurant a few weeks ago. "Creatively, I just couldn't do it," Sampson says. "It just wasn't going in the direction I wanted, and in order to save the reputation I'd started to build, I had to walk away."

Sampson and Alexis Kim (of BBC, in the Central West End) had opened the restaurant as 50-50 partners in August 2015. It filled the space that previously held Sage and Gusto's 314.

But after Jackson and Sampson left, Sampson says the restaurant's closure was "inevitable."

"Most of it was my concept and my recipes," Sampson says.

Kim, who also owns BBC in the Central West End, did not respond to a message seeking comment earlier this week.

Sampson said she and Jackson were looking to do some consulting for other restaurants, as well as private catering, before getting ready to open a place of their own. Anyone interested in hiring them for catering gigs should reach out via email at [email protected].
