Not quite one year after we first learned of its arrival, Flying Saucer Draught Emporium opens at 900 Spruce Street downtown at 5 p.m. today, March 6.

Gut Check will have a more extensive First Look at Flying Saucer in the very near future. In the meantime, the St. Louis location joins a relatively small chain (sixteen locations) of beer-centric spots. The first Flying Saucer opened in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1995, and there are now several more locations in that state. Most of the other locations are spread throughout the Southeast, though there is one in Kansas City, too.
About the beer: Flying Saucer boasts some 80 craft beers on draft. (View the Flying Saucer's beer menu.) It also serves food. We weren't able to get in touch with the restaurant this morning, but according to its Twitter feed, there will be a limited food menu available tonight.
