Food & Wine Publishes Best New Chefs Issue

Well, look who that is, smiling in the center of the top row on the cover of the July issue of Food & Wine: Kevin Willmann, owner and chef of Farmhaus (3257 Ivanhoe Avenue; 314-647-3800). As we learned in April, Willmann is one of eleven Food & Wine Best New Chefs for 2011.

The issue highlights each chef and his or her "simplest" recipe. Willmann receives page 157 to himself, with a close-up photo of his warm mushroom salad with bacon vinaigrette accompanying a brief profile of the chef.

The magazine singles out Willmann for his "genius Midwestern menu" that "highlights everything local" and also, of course, mentions his love of fishing.

The issue arrived in my mailbox yesterday. If it isn't on newsstands already, it should be soon.
