Chef Brian Hardesty
Received a press release this morning announcing that Brian Hardesty has taken over as head chef at Terrene (33 North Sarah Street; Web site). Hardesty has worked in the kitchens of such well known St. Louis restaurants as Monarch and Harvest. Most recently, Hardesty was at the general store-slash-café Winslow's Home.

From the press release:
His self-described personal style is "New American" and is full of strong, solid flavors. Every part of each dish is well thought-out to create a meant-to-be pairing that excites the taste buds. The big, clean flavors blend together perfectly, yet each part still holds its own recognizable taste in the mix.

[Owner] John McElwain was drawn not only to his obvious skill in the kitchen, but also his interest in the environment.

Both believe in using only ecologically sound and sustainable products.
