Fork & Stix Opens in East Delmar Loop

Fork & Stix opened quietly two weeks ago at 549 Rosedale Avenue, the east Delmar Loop address previously occupied by the Ethiopian restaurant Selam.

Of course, the Delmar Loop is already home to four Thai restaurants (each of those owned by Supatana "Pat" Prapaisilapa), but when Gut Check spoke in September with Phatcharin Wanna, part of the family opening Fork & Stix, we learned that this restaurant would feature dishes from northern Thailand as well as the more familiar cuisine of Bangkok and the south.

The restaurant's menu includes hung lay curry, which it describes as a "Northern Thai sweet pork belly and pork loin curry with palm sugar, tamarind peanuts and fresh ginger". There is also sai oua (pork sausage) and naam prik nuum (a hot sauce with roasted chiles, garlic, shallots and cilantro).

More familiar dishes include pad Thai, red and green curry and tum yum soup.

There are also select Japanese dishes, including udon noodle soup, tonkatsu chicken or pork and teriyaki chicken.

Fork & Stix is open from 4:30-9 p.m. on Monday, 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.

You can reach the restaurant at 314-863-5572. Fork & Stix also has a (barebones) Facebook page.
