Overview: Gioia's Deli began as a grocery store in 1918 -- deli included -- which the Donley family then converted to a full-time deli when they bought it from the Gioias in 1980. The Italian deli celebrated its 95th birthday this year, and though it's solely been a deli for 33 years, clearly the Donleys know what they're doing.

Highlights: Gioia's stacks its veggie sammie ($7) high: Two slices of long, bakery-sliced bread are layered with four different cheeses and all the veggies (black olives, jalapenos, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, pepperoncinis, onion, green peppers), spicy mustard, vinegar and oil. A very simple sandwich that will surely make your mouth salivate, bite after bite. Even the meat-eaters like this one!

And don't miss out on Gioia's famous potato ($1.49) and tortellini ($1.75) salads. Both go great with any sandwich.
