Gyro Grill at 3801 South Kingshighway
Gyro Grill is now open at 3801 South Kingshighway, which is just north of the Kingshighway-Chippewa Street intersection. (The actual cross street is Mardel Avenue.) Inside, the restaurant looks more like a fast-casual restaurant than a humble gyro joint -- not a criticism, just an observation -- and the menu, too, reaches beyond regular gyro-joint fare.
There are gyros, of course, as well as kefta (the grilled ground beef, onion and parsley dish), shish kebabs and shawarma. Appetizers include hummus, falafel and lentil soup. However, you can also order a reuben, loaded baked potato or cheesesteak. (Perhaps a reason to resurrect
Cheesesteak Quest?)
Gyro Grill is open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Call 314-875-9465 for more info.
