Hiro Closes, Relocating Downtown

We learned last month that the Delmar Loop sushi and izakaya restaurant Hiro (609 Eastgate Avenue; 314-721-9168) planned to relocate downtown. Washington University plans to redevelop the property on which Hiro and owner Bernie Lee's other venue, 609 Lounge, stand.

Both Hiro and 609 closed this weekend.

609 posted a succinct farewell message on its Facebook page ("2003-2012. END.")

Hiro posted no such message on its own page, but a call to the restaurant this afternoon confirms that its Delmar Loop location is now closed.

According to Sauce, Hiro will move into the space 1405 Washington Avenue vacated by Smash Bar.
