Krab Kingz (7740 Watson Road, Shrewsbury) must be killing it: The six-month-old boiled seafood eatery is not only expanding its Shrewsbury location but also adding a frozen drink bar "straight from Bourbon Street."
Part-owner and operating manager Karli Merisotes explains that bar will sell frozen hurricanes, bourbon margaritas, pina coladas, and more to be announced. But don't worry — the restaurant will still be open during construction.
An additional 1,800 square feet will allow the eatery to better accommodate guests and larger parties, Merisotes says. It's taking over the former Hollywood Tan space next door.
Krab Kingz started off as a food cart in the parking lot of a Texas furniture store back in 2015. Since then it has become a franchise with locations across the country. There are two in St. Louis; the first, on Delmar, opened last September. The Shrewsbury location, which has different owners, opened not long after.
Krab Kingz specializes in Southern-style crab and shrimp. It's known for its (extra) buttery and seasoned crab legs and their large portions. St. Louis, apparently, can't get enough.
Krab Kingz is open in Shrewsbury Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. According to Merisotes, a "re-grand opening" is currently planned for the end of April but no dates are set.
