In another expansion announcement this week, Mama's on the Hill (2132 Edwards Street; 314-776-3100) (formerly known as Mama Campisi's) will open a downtown location on September 22. The somewhat beleaguered restaurant claims to the be originator of toasted ravioli and is home to a very hefty food feat, Mama's Pasta Challenge.

The announcement was made on social media; keep an eye out for a grand opening celebration. The new location will be at 758 South Fourth Street, adjacent to O'Kelley's, another restaurant owned by the family behind Mama's.
Mama's "will be offering a limited menu with all of our house specialties" but will also have a banquet facility able to seat 200 people. And hey, it's two blocks from Busch Stadium. In its first month of business, Mama's will be offering a free catering order to downtown businesses. The Loop counts as downtown, right?
