The Landing is about to add barbecue to its list of riverfront attractions. Marcell's Bar & Grill (720 North First Street), from the people who brought you the Rib Shack, will open later this summer in the former Trainwreck Saloon space. We spoke to co-owner Tara Wells about revitalizing the historic district.

The nineteenth-century building has five stories, so the main two will be the bar and restaurant space. Upstairs is a large private banquet hall; the downstairs two floors will be an evening entertainment venue and bar.
"Blues, jazz, country, comedy -- things of that nature to try and attract more people down the riverfront and enjoy what the Landing has to offer," Wells says, who co-owns Marcell's with her husband and their business partner.
There will be barbecue on the menu, unlike the Rib Shack, it's not the focus at Marcell's. Expect steaks, seafood, stuffed baked potatoes, salads and assorted bar food. The decor will include several large TVs for sports, and they're in the process of cleaning up and re-staining the extensive woodwork.
"Plan on lots of entertainment in the evening," Wells says. "That's something that's been missing from down on the Landing. Come check us out and give us a try."
