Michelob's new Ginger Wheat won't be on sale for a few more weeks, but followers of @Michelob can get an early taste tonight. Anheuser-Busch is hosting a "Wheatup" for its Twitter followers tonight at 7 p.m. at The Stable in St. Louis.

The free event offers tastes of Ginger Wheat and the rest of Michelob's spring sampler, along with mingling with Tweeters and Michelob brewmasters. Reservations are required.

The tweetup's not just an excuse to get together and drink beer; it's a part of Michelob's plan to use social media to benefit both their companies and consumers. "Social media plays a big role at Michelob Brewing Company Beer enthusiasts want to know about the beers they enjoy and our Twitter feed and Facebook page provide that direct and meaningful contact to our brewery," said Michelob Brand Manager Nate Scudieri.

He continued, "In addition to building awareness for our award-winning ... brands, we provide useful information about ingredients, styles, the brewing process, food and beer pairings and also answer questions we receive on other beer topics."
