Moonshine Tasting at Randall's on Saturday

Mar 7, 2013 at 3:00 pm

Forget wine tastings, scotch tastings, Jell-O shot tastings and the like.

There's gonna be a Thunderbeast Storm Moonshine tasting at Randall's Wine and Spirits (14201 Manchester Road, Manchester; 636-527-1002) from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday.

Woot!

We recently profiled Mad Buffalo Distillery, makers of Thunderbeast Storm, and in doing so we learned about the care they put into every batch of moonshine they make. This ain't your grandpappy's back-porch firewater, people. Mad Buffalo is focused on sustainability and putting out a quality product.

To get you in the mood, here's a l'il tasting of what we wrote:

They are passionate about the notion of "grain to glass" -- or buying all the grain used in the production of liquor straight from the farmers who grow it. Mad Buffalo takes this idea a step further. All of the corn used in the moonshine comes from the Burnette family's farm, and the distillery has developed a closed-loop water system for cooling the distillate, thereby reducing the quantity of water waste. They clean all the water they use in-house, and they plan to be reliant upon solar and wind power by the end of 2013.

As the store does each and every Saturday, Randall's will offer other new products as well. So stop in, have a drink or three and broaden your booze horizons! Oh, and consider traveling by cab. It's a tasting, yes, but it's also moonshine. So, yeah.
