New Restaurant Opens in Market Grill in Soulard

Market Grill (728 Lafayette Street) in Soulard shuttered in June, after trying both a traditional bar-and-grill and a more ambitious contemporary format. Now, the restaurant is open again. The name on the awning still says Market Grill, but it likely won't remain that way much longer.

The blog I Love Soulard first reported Market Grill's return two weeks ago. I stopped by this afternoon and spoke briefly with one of the three partners in the restaurant, whom I remembered from my previous visits there.

(On the chance that I might return to reveiw the restaurant, I didn't identify myself as being with the Riverfront Times.)

He told me that the new menu features inexpensive food and drinks in the style of Fast Eddie's Bon-Air: burgers, hot dogs and, yes, even peel-and-eat shrimp.

I'll assume that the beer is cold. A sign in one window promised Jaeger shots. Look for a new name in the coming weeks.
