Similar to the restaurant massacre we saw in June, several restaurants have announced their closure this week. It's not all bad, though -- notably, Pomme Restaurant (40 North Central Avenue, Clayton; 314-727-4141) and Pomme Cafe & Wine Bar (44 North Central Avenue, Clayton; 314-721-8801) are closing, but owners Bryan and Diane Carr are taking over the space currently occupied by Roxane (12 N. Meramec Avenue, Clayton; 314-721-7700). Roxane is -- you guessed it -- also closing.

Pomme Restaurant is a bit fancier and more expensive, and Pomme Cafe & Wine Bar is its sister restaurant. The announcement was made on Pomme's Facebook page, but the Carrs haven't revealed anything about Avenue other than its name and location.
For Roxane, the Facebook announcement was a bit more somber. "Since my brother's death in January, our lives have been torn up. It made us both realize that it's time to focus on us and what we really want out of life," co-owner Emily Matthes wrote. "We want a quality of life and be able to enjoy it. With that being said, we will be closing Saturday September 6th. This has been a very very tough decision on the two of us, but we know it's the right one."
The new Avenue is set to open in October.
