Pomme Restaurant Celebrates Its Tenth Anniversary With Operation Food Search

Apple season hits its peak this month. At Pomme Restaurant (40 North Central Avenue, Clayton; 314-727-4141), which gets its name from the French word for apple, the tradition of local and seasonal food doesn't fall far from the tree. To celebrate the mark of a decade in business, Pomme is partnering with Operation Food Search. From Wednesday, October 24, through Saturday, October 27, 10 percent of food sales will go to support the organization's mission to alleviate hunger.

The upscale dinner-service restaurant opened in 2002, replacing Ed Neal's Cafe Provencal in Clayton. Husband-and-wife duo Bryan and Diane Carr co-own Pomme Restaurant, Pomme Cafe and Wine Bar and Atlas Restaurant.

"The evolution of Pomme has been to remain in touch with the traditions which guide us as we grow with the times," says executive chef Bryan Carr. "We most look forward to thanking our loyal guests, welcoming new ones and helping Operation Food Search as we celebrate our anniversary." Pomme aims to offer expertly prepared dishes incorporating fresh, locally grown ingredients, presented with exceptional service. Carr recommends boneless beef short ribs with mustard-parsley crust ($32), the restaurant's most popular dish since its inception. The short ribs cook for six hours before the dish gets finished in a sauce made from the braising liquid.

Other entree options include rainbow-trout filets with fresh dill and capers ($26) and roast breast of duck with figs, bay and lime ($28). Specials for the anniversary event include waived corkage fee on any 2002 vintage wine and a chance to win a ten-year-aged bottle of Macallan scotch. Pomme's hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. Call 314-727-4141 for reservations.
