Copia, immediately after the 2007 fire
George Mahe
reports on Feast (that's Feast, the
St. Louis Magazine food blog, not
Feast, the new culinary magazine from Lee Enterprises) that at long last
Copia Urban Winery (1122 Washington Avenue) will reopen at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 25.
Copia has been closed since late December 2007, when
an arson fire heavily damaged the popular restaurant and bar. Former Copia employee
Gilbert Summers was sentenced last year to five years in federal prison for setting the fire.
I have no idea what the record is for the time elapsed between a restaurant having to close for renovations/repairs and reopening is, but Copia's two-and-a-half years must be close.
