The Lafayette Square café Rue Lafayette (2026 Lafayette Avenue; 314-772-2233) has closed, according to multiple reports. We first heard the news from the Twitter account of David Craig's Food Talk STL radio show:

We were unable to locate the Facebook post Craig references in that Tweet, but St. Louis Magazine found the entire post from Rue Lafayette co-owner Araceli Kopiloff, which we repeat here:

Here is the E True Hollywood story: due to divorce Rue had to close (not my choice) there is a chance it may go on with new management. If it does, stand behind it 110%. Great people. They will keep the name and format. They love the bands and Bella and I will be involved in some level. But...if they don't, Rue will be closed forever. As for me, this wasn't my last weekend and it will be closed until we find out if this new deal will be made. I hope it is because I put all of my heart into it. Keep your fingers crossed.

Calls to the café this morning went unanswered, but Kopiloff linked to the St. Louis Magazine story on her Facebook page, presumably verifying its accuracy.

More on the fate of Rue Lafayette as we learn it.
