Only a few weeks ago I reviewed the new downtown location of Robust (227 West Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves; 314-963-0033) and (635 Washington Avenue; 314-287-6300). Good thing I didn't wait any longer. Owners Stanley and Arlene Browne are opening a third location of their popular restaurant and wine bar, this one across the river in downtown Edwardsville, Illinois.

As first reported by George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine late yesterday afternoon, Robust will take over the space at 126 North Main Street currently occupied by Erato on Main.
"It's got a good little community," Stanley Browne says of Edwardsville. " It's got the college; it's got the attorneys over there."
"It's growing. It's thriving. We want be part of that."
The new Robust will follow the same format as the original and downtown locations, with dishes crafted to pair with wines from the restaurant's list according to the wine's "Robust Factor."
Browne tells Gut Check he anticipates a 45-day renovation, which would put the new Robust on target for a mid-July opening.
