Rush Bowls will be opening its first St. Louis location two weeks from today.
Slated to open March 26 in a Central West End storefront that used to house a stamp shop, the Rush Bowls (227 N. Euclid Avenue) will be the first of several for the Colorado-based chain. Owners Ken and Kim Moroney say they're planning to open at least three in the area in the coming years.
Rush Bowls offers three types of bowls — acai bowls, "comfort bowls" or "enlightenment bowls." Each of the half-dozen options in each category include various combinations of fruit, granola and, in some cases, fat-free frozen yogurt.Even the comfort bowls are likely more healthy than many St. Louisans are used to — the "apple pie," for example, includes "apple, banana, cinnamon, fat-free frozen yogurt (optional), apple juice, vanilla soy or fat-free milk, topped with organic granola, frozen yogurt (optional) and a dusting of cinnamon." The company's signature offering, the "beach bowl," offers acai, mango, banana and guava juice topped with organic granola and honey." Naturally, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and dairy-free options are all available.
Rush Bowls was founded in Boulder in 2004 and began franchising in 2016. While its locations are currently only operating in two states, restaurants are in various stages of development in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and, yes, Missouri.
“Rush Bowls is thrilled to welcome Ken and Kim to the team, and I am confident they will make our first foray into St. Louis successful,” the company's founder, Andrew Pudalov, said in a prepared statement. “We are incredibly pleased with the following we have garnered in Colorado, and are excited to see the same acclaim and recognition nationally as we continue expanding. We feel that we have found the perfect franchise partners to promote our mission and establish Rush Bowls as the premier destination for grab-and-go meals in St. Louis.”
