Sir's Bar-B-Que (6174 Olive Boulevard, University City; 314-669-0025.) is back. Sir's closed suddenly in December of last year due to a regulatory dispute with St. Louis County. What was supposed to have been a brief closure stretched into the new year, and its listed number was disconnected, which led Gut Check to believe that the restaurant -- which had already survived two moves, from the original Delmar Boulevard address to a short-lived spot downtown and then from there to University City -- had met its end.
This morning, a colleague passed along word not only that the restaurant had reopened, but also that she'd eaten lunch there. Sir's has a somewhat limited menu for the time being (written on a dry-erase board by the bar), but it should have an expanded menu in the next month or so.
