Takaya New Asian Opens Downtown

After a soft opening in the final weeks of last year, Takaya New Asian (634 Washington Avenue; 314-241-5721) officially opened for dinner last night and for lunch today. The new restaurant joins Pi (610 Washington Avenue; 314-588-7600), Robust (635 Washington Avenue; 314-287-6300) and Snarf's (614 Washington Avenue; 314-241-0100) in downtown's new Mercantile Exchange development.

Takaya New Asian is the latest project from the team behind Tani Sushi Bistro (16 South Bemiston, Clayton; 314-727-8264) and Tani's next-door neighbor, Area 14 Lounge & Sushi (14 South Bemiston, Clayton; 314-727-8264).

Owner Eric Heckman tweeted a photograph of the initial lunch menu. While difficult to read, it does reveal dishes including bulgogi sliders, Korean short ribs and "Asian-style" chicken wings.

Takaya's regular hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. You can reach the restaurant at 314-241-5721 or via its Facebook page.
