"Inexpensive food fast" is what Eric Tomlin, the owner of Taste Budz Take Out (280 DeBalivere Avenue; 314-361-9999), strives to provide at his new restaurant. He and his wife, Bridgette Tomlin, tackle the take-out items together, working side-by-side in the kitchen cooking up breakfast, lunch and dinner -- all made to order.
The American-style concept opened and June and fills the space formerly occupied by the original location of the Kitchen Sink, replacing its red, gray and black color scheme with yellows and oranges. Tomlin served as the prior owner of Happy Hour Bar & Grill in Florissant and decided to open Taste Budz when he came across the opportunity to offer fast, affordable food to students and commuters in the area.
Taste Budz offers breakfast all day, including a "Rise & Shine" platter ($4) with two eggs, two meats, hash browns and buttery toast. Other options include simple breakfast biscuits, omelets, pancakes, oatmeal and grits. For lunch and dinner, select from no-frills salads, burgers and sandwiches including a turkey burger ($3.99), steak philly ($3.99) and catfish sandwich with fries ($4.99).
Taste Budz also offers shrimp and tilapia dinners, hot dogs, nachos and chicken wings in six different flavors. Available sides include fried okra and baked potatoes.
