Friday (August 26):

7th Annual Downtown Restaurant Week @ participating downtown restaurants Hit up one of the 26 downtown St. Louis dining establishments participating in this event, including Carmine's Steakhouse, Mango Peruvian Cuisine and Mosaic to nosh on a three-course dinner for a fixed price of $25 per person. Call ahead wherever you decide to dine -- reservations are recommended. $25. Daily through Sunday, August 28.

Reception with Chef Jeff @ The Missouri History Museum Jeff Henderson, the New York Times bestselling author and star of the Food Network's The Chef Jeff Project speaks at the Missouri History Museum. Food is catered by Sweetie Pie's along to a soundtrack of music by DJ Needles. Call 314-361-9017 for tickets, which include two drink tickets. $10 per person; free for members. 5 p.m.

Dinner on the Deck @ Mount Pleasant Estates Executive Chef Dana Liljequest will prepare a prix fixe three-course meal with a glass of wine paired chosen by Mount Pleasant's winemaker. This month's main dish is lobster ravioli paired with chardonnay. Call 636-482-WINE(9463) to make reservations. $26.99 per person. 6:30 p.m. on select Fridays from August through November.

Saturday (August 27):

Festival of Nations @ Tower Grove Park This annual festival features a plethora of the world's dancing and dining delights, including more than forty ethnic food booths, live cultural entertainment and a selection of arts and crafts to take home. Admission is free. Saturday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

2nd Annual Spiking Out Hunger Sand Volleyball Tournament @ Wave Taco Enjoy all you can eat from Pappy's and unlimited beers in addition to an after-party hosted at El Borracho featuring free appetizer platters and drink specials. $25 for spectators, with proceeds to benefit Operation Food Search. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Washer Tournament @ Crown Valley Brewery Kick back and throw down while throwing back beers and noshing on brats. Register online for the competition; if you win, you could take home plenty of Crown Valley goodies including gift certificates to the restaurant, packs of beer and t-shirts. $30 per team. 11 a.m.

A Taste and a Tune to Benefit Haiti @ Holy Redeemer School This event raises funds to provide annual medical missions, ongoing healthcare and more to the people of Haiti. It features a wine tasting from Garland Wines served with hors d'oeuvres from The Art of Entertaining from 7 to 8 p.m. and live music by folk-rock group Rosewood from 8 to 10 p.m. Call 314-629-5264 for $15 advance tickets, or get 'em for $20 at the door. 7 to 10 p.m.

Sunday (August 28):

Sunday Brunch @ MoKaBe's Coffeehouse Find out why this south-city hotspot has one of the longest-standing buffets south of Tower Grove Park. The buffet this weekend includes vegetarian sausage and green chile quiche, vegan green curry tofu and curried zucchini with brown rice, homemade desserts, crabcakes and real bacon for meat eaters. $12.75 per person. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

LouFest @ Forest Park This year's second annual indie-rock music festival includes snack and drink choices from Atomic Cowboy, Buck's Good Eats, Cha Cha Chow, El Borracho, Entre, Farm Fresh Cupcakes and many more. $38/64 admission. Saturday, August 27 and Sunday August 28 from noon to 10 p.m.

Home Grown Farm Tour @ Washington County, MO This free self-guided tour features eighteen venues highlighting the diversity of local farms and history in Washington County. The weekend closes with a Harvest Field Dinner at Edg-Clif Farms and Vineyard showcasing locally produced wine and foods prepared by area chefs -- call 573-438-8555 for reservations at $55 per seat. Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
