Friday (June 3):
Route 66 Festival @ Edwardsville City Park This two-day fest highlights Edwardsville's place on the historic Route 66 with a variety of food and drinks for sale, live entertainment, Route 66-themed swag, art vendors, historic displays, a classic car cruise and more. Shakespeare Festival @ Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park View a performance of The Taming of the Shrew while the Shakespeare season lasts through June 19. Arrive early and grab some concessions to snack on or pack your own picnic! Free. 8 p.m. nightly except Tuesdays.
Saturday (June 4): Harvest Sessions @ Tower Grove Farmers' Market Enjoy a concert hosted by KDHX at the West Pavilion in Tower Grove Park while getting some farm-fresh grocery shopping done. Andy Berkhout graces the Harvest Sessions stage this Saturday. Free. 10 a.m. to noon.
First Annual Southtown G&W Sausage Festival @ Corner of Beck and Kingshighway This sausage fest is a fundraiser for the newly formed Southtown Improvement Corporation, a nonprofit whose mission is rejuvenating South City St. Louis. Show up for a Bavarian sausage-eating contest, "sausage jousting" (whatever that is), a washer tournament and to enjoy dishes from some area eateries. See who gets crowned Sausage King or Queen. Noon to 8 p.m.
St. Stanislaus Picnic @ St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish Polish dinners will be served both days of this event in addition to brats, hot dogs, burgers, Polish pastries, potato pancakes and more. Chill out in the beer garden or arrive early to enjoy a polka Mass on Sunday. Saturday, June 4 from 2 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Matt Holliday Wine Release Party @ The Wine and Cheese Place St. Louis Cardinal superstar Matt Holliday introduces his wine designed and bottled by Uncork for a Cause. Proceeds from the wine support the St. Louis Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event features the first uncorking of the wine, a variety of wines samples, a selection of appetizers from Mojo Tapas Restaurant and a silent auction. $25. Autographed bottles sold for $75. 6 to 9 p.m.
Second Annual Green Tie Affair @ The Green Center Learn about cooking with local ingredients and the slow food movement from guest speaker Chef Vito Racaneli Jr. and enjoy a menu created by L'Ecole Culinaire students highlighting the movement towards eating local. Enjoy an evening of food, award-winning Missouri wine and beer, live music and nature photography in the Green Center's gardens to benefit the Center's education and habitat restoration programs. $40. 6 to 9 p.m.
Sunday (June 5):
Café Flora Brunch @ Missouri Botanical Gardens Grab a seat inside or outside to enjoy an à la carte menu and dining at the Spink Pavilion overlooking the garden's central reflecting pool. Choose from options such as a smoked salmon platter with smoked trout salad and quiche of the day. Reservations recommended but not necessary; call 314-577-0200. International Horseradish Festival @ Woodland Park (Collinsville, IL) Enjoy live music, food booths, a craft fair, Bloody Mary contest, horseradish recipe contest and more. There's so much going on, it's best to feast your eyes upon this. Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5.
