Ten Best Food Events This Weekend: May 4-6

Friday (May 4):

St. Louis Microfest @ Forest Park Select from more than 75 breweries including 100 international and craft brews. Demos, tastings and food pairings round out the weekend's festivities. Tickets range from $30 to $54 and can be purchased online via the St. Louis Microfest Web site. Friday, May 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, May 5 from noon to 10 p.m.

Saturday (May 5):

Opening Day @ Tower Grove Farmers' Market Check out 70 vendors, the return of Harvest Sessions live music, early morning tai chi and yoga sessions, and a new prepared food row. Show up early for $10 good at any vendor. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Opening Day @ Clayton Farmers' Market Celebrate opening day with bagpipes and bluegrass, farm fresh produce and hand-crafted artisan food, and family-friendly crafts and activities. Admission is free. 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

We All Scream for I Scream Cakes' Pasteurizer Fundraiser @ 2720 Cherokee Cool off from Cinco de Mayo celebrations with ice cream samples, ice cream cocktails and the chance to decorate your own ice cream cupcake. Admission is free. 3 to 5:30 p.m. Grapes in the Garden @ Missouri Botanical Garden Raise a glass to more than 100 wine samples for sipping, swirling and sampling along with hors d'oeuvres and live music. Grape Escape Festival @ St. Stephens Hall and Picnic Grounds Head slightly southwest of St. Louis for a tasting of wines from Peaceful Bend Winery, St. James Winery, Persimmon Ridge Winery and more along with live music, craft booths, Cinco de Mayo-inspired food and flare and family activities. Admission is free; additional proceeds benefit The Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic and The St. Vincent DePaul Society. 3 to 9 p.m.

Sunday (May 6):

Pigs and Pints @ Civil Life Brewing Company This festival of local food and drink features red wattle pigs from Kluesner's Farm prepared by The Block, plenty of local house-made brews, and food and desserts from the likes of Pint Size Bakery, Bailey's Range and more. All-inclusive tickets cost $40 for adults and $5 for kid-friendly food and activities. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wild Card Wine Trail @ Hermann Wine Trail Make seven stops along the Hermann Wine Trail for food and wine pairings with international flair. Dinner and Bikes @ William A. Kerr Foundation This bipedal friendly event begins with a happy hour followed by a vegan meal from chef Joshua Ploeg, a lecture, a screening of short cycling films and discussion. Tickets cost $12 and include dinner and one complimentary drink. 4 p.m.
