Ten Best Food Events This Weekend: September 9-11

Friday (September 9):

Art Outside @ Schlafly Bottleworks This juried alternative art fair features affordable art from local artists and, of course, plenty of fresh brews. Friday, Sept. 9 from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11 from noon to 4 p.m.

Food Truck Friday @ Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Avenue) It's that time of the month again. Grab a blanket and don't bother packing your own picnic -- there's plenty of food from local vendors on wheels to go around. 5 to 8 p.m.

Saturday (September 10):

James Farmer Book Tour @ Left Bank Books James Farmer discusses his book, A Time to Plant: Southern-Style Garden Living, detailing flower and vegetable gardening in the Deep South. His book includes recipes for seasonal meals and more. Pick up a copy of the book and meet the author. 2 p.m. Oscar Mayer Weinermobile Visit @ Valley Park Library Get a glimpse of the infamous hot dog on wheels as it makes a pit-stop in the St. Louis area. Pick up a free weenie-whistle from driver Deli Fresh Danica and find out how much fun there is to be had between buns. 1 to 4 p.m.

Art of Food @ The Koken Art Factory Slow Food St. Louis presents an hor d'oeuvres-filled evening with locally-produced food, live music, food-related art, a silent auction and more. $40 in advance for non-members; $50 at the door.

Art Opening @ Vino Gallery Take a mini-vacation at the reception for Carol Carter's paintings in "The Italian Suite," accompanied by an Italian wine tasting and light appetizers. Free admission. 6 to 9 p.m.

6th Annual Funk Fest @ Broadway Oyster Bar Enjoy the musical stylings of Fresh Heir, Dogtown Allstars and Funky Butt Brass Band, accompanied by Sky Infusion Vodka drink specials all night long. $10 admission. Music starts at 8 p.m.

Sunday (September 11):

Queen's Cuisine Afternoon Tea @ The Map Room Two pots of loose-leaf tea are offered with an authentic three-course English meal including finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones topped with clotted cream and a sampling of freshly baked desserts. Make a reservation online. $25 per person. 1 to 3 p.m.

Sunday Football Specials @ PW Pizza Catch the game in style this season beginning this weekend at PW Pizza with wings, domestic and microbrew beer bucket specials, pool and more. Chef Randall creates a new specialty pizza for each game for $12. Darts, foosball and shuffleboard are complimentary.

10th Annual TOCO Family Festival @ Jellystone Park Resort TOCO, or Tapestry of Community Offerings, presents its annual fest featuring music, camping, art, plenty of food and beverage vendors, swimming, hiking and more. Proceeds will benefit Creative Arts Enrichment Programs for Youth. Friday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11.
