Believe it or not, it's going to be 50 by the end of the week. Ignore the cold weather, because this seems to be the first week that the food scene is really back in the swing of things after the holidays. Sample sour beers, experience life at Downton Abbey or head to Tuscany for a night. Continue on for our food-related recommendations.

Monday (Jan. 12):

Sour Beers 101 @ Alpha Brewing Co.

To celebrate its new line of sour beers, Alpha Brewing is offering a series of classes on the unusual brews. Derrick Langeneckert will give you a tour of the brewery followed by a tasting of at least five sours brewed in-house. He'll be able to answer any questions you have. You'll also get a special tulip glass to take home. Sour and regular draft beers will be available for purchase following the class. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is $20 per person, available here.

Dinner at the Abbey @ Dierbergs West Oak

Starved for new episodes of Downton Abbey? Dierbergs will sate your craving with a meal the Granthams would love. Make individual shepherd's pies, baked potato soup with bacon and cheese, a hearty beef pot roast with red wine reduction and roasted winter vegetables, plus English popovers and a white chocolate raspberry trifle. There's also another class January 26. From 6 to 8 p.m. Class is $42 per person; register here.

Stout Week @ Flying Saucer

Stout Week kicks off tonight at the downtown beer bar. There will be special releases at 5 p.m. every night this week. Today it's Stone IRS night -- get your hands on the 2013 IRS, Espresso IRS and the 2014 IRS. Other releases include Evin Twin night, obscured stouts, 4 Hands and more. Admission is free.

Tuesday (Jan. 13):

Coffee Cowtao @ Urban Chestnut

Urban Chestnut is pairing with Kaldi's Coffee for the release party for its newest brew, Coffee Cowtao, a milk stout. It was brewed with Kaldi's Espresso 700 for an "enlightened" version of UCBC's milk stout. The original Cowtao was nitrogenated, but the Kaldi's version is carbonated, which "allows for more of the beer's complex aroma to linger in the glass for the taster to enjoy." Admission is free.

Tuesday Tasting @ Remy's Kitchen & Wine Bar

Remy's is back in action with the first of its wine dinner series tonight with "Wine Ancestors of Italy, France and Spain." Start with Spanish cheese and charcuterie paired with La Cueva Cava. The second course is a wild mushroom, pea and Gorgonzola risotto paired with a 2012 Punset Nebbiolo. Last, enjoy duck confit with a Gruyere puff pastry paired with a 2011 Domain de la Petitie Marie Cabernet Franc. From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dinner is $38 per person, not including gratuity. Reservations are required; call 314-726-5757 or make them online.

Wednesday (Jan. 14):

Passport Dinner: Tuscany @ Katie's Pizza & Osteria

Let Katie's transport you to Tuscany for the first in its Passport Dinner series with STL Wine Girl, a.k.a. Angela Ortmann. The dinner will feature five courses of Tuscan cuisine and wines. From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person and include tax and tip. Get them here.

What the Cluck @ Kitchen Conservatory

Yes, chicken is easy, but it can also get boring. Kitchen Conservatory will help you mix it up in this demonstration class. Barb Nack will prepare maple bourbon-glazed roasted chicken with roasted sweet potatoes, smoked chicken to create a spinach salad with bacon and apples and red wine vinegar-Dijon dressing, sautéed chicken with carrots and orzo and avgolemono sauce and chicken-beer-cheddar cheese soup with bacon and garlic croutons. From 6:30 to 9 p.m. Class is $45 per person; register here.
