January is already almost over, hopefully taking cold temperatures with it. Celebrate with crab boils at Broadway Oyster Bar's famous festival, or celebrate four years of "Wolpie" at Urban Chestnut. Friday (Jan. 23)

Oyster and Crab Leg Festival @ Broadway Oyster Bar

Broadway Oyster Bar's festivals are legendary, and this one's no exception. The menu includes crab boils, crawfish enchiladas, oyster stew, fried crab-stuffed oysters, Peacemaker po' boys, Thai chili crab and lots more. Enjoy live music both days. Call ahead to reserve your table. Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.

STL Beekeepers Honey and Wine Tasting @ Culinary Institute of St. Louis

The apiarists are back at this third annual event. Culinary Institute students will provide hors d'oeuvres as you sample sixteen honeys, from local to international paired with wines and meads. From 7 to 9 p.m. Suggested donation is $12; RSVP on Facebook.

Saturday (Jan. 24)

Voodoo in the Lou Masquerade Ball @ Contemporary Art Museum

Get a head start on Mardi Gras with this fundraiser for the Young Friends of Kids With Cancer. There will be a burlesque show by Lola Van Ella and Company, Cajun cuisine, a fortune teller, live music, raffles and more. Seeding Frenzy St. Louis @ Great Rivers Saloon

It's time again for Gateway Garlic's annual seed swap. You can even start your collection if you don't have any seeds of your own. If you do want to swap, all seeds must be GMO-free and labeled with its type and year harvested. Local experts will give advice on germination and seed preservation. There will also be door prizes and more. From 2 to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Date Night @ Dierbergs Bogey Hills

Make dinner with your significant other and enjoy a night out in this hands-on class. You'll make spirited raspberry lemonade punch, spinach Parmesan dip with herbed pita chips, golden crusted pork tenderloin with horseradish aioli, chilled asparagus with a mustard-herb vinaigrette, duchess potatoes and strawberry buttercream-iced Neapolitan cupcakes. From 7 to 9 p.m. Class is $80 per couple; register here.

Sunday (Jan. 25)

The Breakfast Club @ Tenacious Eats

Tenacious Eats is taking on the John Hughes classic for its last January dinner. There will be five courses with five drink pairings. Get there early for free popcorn, live music, Super 8 films and prizes for the best 80s wear. Dinner (and the movie) begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person, available here.

Wolpertinger Festival @ Urban Chestnut

Urban Chestnut describes the "Wolpie" as "an ale aged in red wine barrels from California's Roth Estate vineyard for several months...dry, fruity, similar to a Flemish Brown (although less tart), approximately 9.0% ABV Ale." So let's celebrate! There will be over twenty breweries to sample, along with live music. Tickets are $40 and the event goes from 1 to 5 p.m. Get more info and tickets here.

Pahlmeyer Wine Dinner @ Balaban's

Wine dinners are one of the best parts of Balaban's, but it has never hosted a dinner featuring Pahlmeyer wines before. Start off with char-grilled swordfish with lemon risotto and tomato relish paired with the 2012 Jayson Chardonnay. Next it's lumb crab tortelloni with lobster beurre blanc and smoked corn chutney paired with the 2012 Pahlmeyer Chardonnay. The third course is roast loin of rabbit stuffed with rappini, topped with a wild mushroom merlot demi-glace paired with the 2012 Pahlmeyer Merlot. For the main event, enjoy braised veal shank with creamed herb polenta finished with a cabernet reduction paired with the 2012 Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon. For dessert, the 2012 Jayson Proprietary Napa Red is paired with Balaban's chocolate fritters with almond praline. Dinner is $110 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
