Despite Wisconsin's state Assembly voting in favor of lightening the laws against selling raw milk, the state's governor vetoed the measure. According to Food Safety News, Governor Jim Doyle said, "I cannot ignore the potential harmful health effects of consuming unpasteurized milk that have been raised by many groups." Raw milk proponent Mark McAfee, wasn't surprised, stating that the law's bacterial testing standards were too loose.
Birds prefer conventional crops to organic, according to a British study. The National Post reports, "A new, three-year study from Newcastle University found that wild birds, if given a choice, will pick conventionally-grown seed over organic. Researchers theorize it's because chemical fertilizers make the non-organic food more rich in protein than the au naturel alternative."
