Warm weather means more excuses to leave the house in search of eats. Plenty of options await, depending on what food you're in the mood for. Participate in a pot luck, get a head start on that garden or check out some monthly menu specials. Click ahead for edible adventure ideas this weekend.

Friday (Apr. 5):

Chef's Table @ L'Ecole Culinaire During this casual first come, first served happy hour style event, order small plates for under $10 a pop to enjoy with A. Bommarito wines, local beers and spirits. 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Strange Beers @ Perennial Artisan Ales Sample new flavors from Strange Donuts including banana walnut and chocolate sea salt paired with featured Perennial beers such as a Belgian saison with chamomile and Black Walnut Dunkel. Admission and donut samples are free - 20% of beer sales go toward Strange Donuts' Kickstarter campaign. 5 p.m.

First Friday @ Contemporary Art Museum Enjoy art and live music from DJ Superconductor. A cash bar is available along with British pub fare prepared by Kitchen Kulture. Admission is free. 5 to 9 p.m.

Saturday (Apr. 6):

St. Louis Garden Blitz @ Missouri Botanical Garden The return of trees and assorted shades of green on the scene can only mean one thing - gardening season awaits! Not sure where to start? Get schooled during the event, "St. Louis Garden Blitz: Get to Know and Grow Your Food," to do just that. Topics include raised-bed gardening, mushrooms, herbal cocktails and more. Fifth Birthday Party @ Onesto For this birthday celebration, "Onesto will be roasting a 180-pound pig on a spit in its back yard. But wait, there's more! The pig will be stuffed with a turkey, a chicken and a cornish hen. All this meat will be served up (free!) with sides like slaw, mac & cheese, beans and bread..." . 1 p.m.
