Finally, some credit where it's due.
Months after declaring Forest Park the best city park in the U.S., the travel website Thrillist has labeled St. Louis as "your must-visit Midwest dining destination" — singling out some terrific restaurants and bars for visitors to try.
The article outlines eighteen local spots that "that make us most excited about what is currently happening on the gastronomic scene, and what is yet to come." Among those highlighted? Mai Lee, the Libertine, Side Project Cellar, Planter's House, Bolyard's Meat and Provisions and Pappy's Smokehouse.
Author (and former RFT contributor) Holly Fann also gives a nod to other great aspects our dining scene, including how our chefs tend to personally know all their suppliers and how our restaurants will never turn away a hungry customer, even on the busiest of nights. She writes, "'Farm-to-table' is not something that's often advertised here in the STL, because it's assumed that if you're a chef here, you personally know all your suppliers, farmers, and butchers, as they're close to home." Hear, hear!
