We told you on the very last day of August that Hendrick's BBQ was slated to open that evening at 1200 South Main Street in St. Charles. As it happened, that opening was delayed till last week, but the restaurant is now open for dinner daily beginning at 4 p.m. Lunch service is slated to begin Thursday, September 13, at 11 a.m., according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
Hendrick's BBQ is the latest venture from the team behind Cafe Ventana (3919 West Pine Boulevard; 314-531-7500), Sanctuaria (4198 Manchester Avenue; 314-535-9700) and Diablitos Cantina (3761 Laclede Avenue; 314-644-4430).
- Murdoch Perk (5400 Murdoch Avenue) closed at the end of July, but the space already has new owners. Joe Holleman of the Post-Dispatch reports that the owners of Russell's Cafe & Bakery (958 Brookwood Center Plaza, Fenton; 636-343-8900) plan to take over the space.
- We heard from one of our trusted operatives back in June that the new burger-wings-frozen custard joint opening at 6227 Delmar Boulevard would be called Chubbies'. Now comes confirmation from the owner, Wally Othman, himself in Sauce. Othman tells Sauce that the restaurant will open within a month.
