Trader Joe's "Butter Chicken" Recalled, but St. Louis Area OK

First, the bad news:

The USDA has alerted us to a Canadian recall of frozen butter chicken and basmati rice because of potential listeria contamination.

The product from Aliya's Foods Limited in Canada made it to the U.S. as Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice.

Specifically, the recalled product is 12.5-ounce packages of Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice with the product code 2012-10-31 and lot code 30512.

Now, the good news, at least for the majority of Gut Check readers:

The USDA's list of Trader Joe's stores to which the recalled product was distributed (link PDF) includes no local locations. In fact, all of the listed stores are located on the east coast.

Still worried? You can always check your package of butter chicken against the listed codes.
